Privacy Policy

At a glance

By default, Diffward analyzes your working tree, Git history, edits, and supported agent transcripts locally. You do not need a Diffward account, and Diffward does not intentionally receive your source code unless you choose a feature that uses an external model provider.

Information the extension handles

Local workspace data

To provide review, attribution, and session-history features, the extension reads information from the workspace you open in VS Code. This may include file contents and changes, repository-relative paths, Git metadata and snapshots, edit records, review decisions, and local Claude Code or Codex transcripts. These records are stored locally in VS Code extension storage and Git references used by Diffward.

Optional model features

Model-backed collateral classification is off by default. If you turn it on, Diffward sends your request and a short excerpt of each changed file to the provider you select—either a language model available through VS Code or Anthropic. That provider processes the information under its own terms and privacy policy. An Anthropic API key you provide is kept in VS Code secret storage.

Information you export

If you use the export command, Diffward writes a session fixture to a location you choose. You control that file and any further sharing of it.

Information the website handles

When you visit this website, our hosting provider may automatically process ordinary technical information such as your IP address, browser type, requested pages, timestamps, and diagnostic or security logs. We use this information to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the website.

If you contact us or submit a support request through a third-party platform, we receive the information you include and use it to respond.

How information is used

We do not sell your personal information.

Third-party services

The extension is distributed through the Visual Studio Marketplace, operated by Microsoft. Microsoft may process information under its own policies when you browse the Marketplace or install updates. Optional model providers and other linked websites are also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Retention and security

Local Diffward data remains on your device until it is removed through the extension, VS Code, Git, or your operating system. Website and support information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, including security and legal requirements. We use reasonable safeguards, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You can leave model-backed classification off, disable local transcript reading in Diffward settings, remove locally stored data, or uninstall the extension. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information.

Children’s privacy

Diffward is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Diffward evolves. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date when changes are material.
